Welcome : Class of 2008

Round 1 results for admission into class of 2008 were declared today. My yahoo group mail box is flooded with emails from ppl congratulating each other. I remenber for us, the class of 2007 it was 7th Jan. After a lot of wait the results were declared and it was a great feeling to be a part of this great institution called ISB.

Here are a few pointers i would like to include for the forthcoming batch :(based on my experience so far)

1) ISB is a great place. No doubt. However, this not the ultimate achievement you would have in life. Its just the begining and i can assure you its really a perfect place to start off--So party as much as you like, but also tighten your belts for this joyride.

2) ISB doesnt make the students. It is us the students (and alums) who make this place what it is. So keep that in mind and now you are the torch bearers of this school.

3) You are going to be competing with the best of the best of the best breed here (yes one best is extra deliberately). Prepare youself for a year of hard toil and some adversity. Life is not a bed of roses anywhere

4) Have realistic expectations especially in terms of placements out of the school. If you think just because you are an ISBian anyone will pay you whatever crores you have in mind, think again before joining. You will get what you are worth. Plus you are competing against the best guys in the business. So be honest with yourself and think logically. Having said that placements have never been an issue at ISB. (Infact it has become the best attraction :) )

5) The school's infrastructure ,academics and faculty will far exceed your expectations. Be rest assured about that. You are going to have a never before experience on this front and consider yourself lucky for that.

6) Dont worry about petty issues like shifting to a new place, living, campus facilities, schools for kids etc. There are absolutely no issues on these counts and everything will be very smooth.

7) Feel free to get in touch with alumni you know or current students, for any post admission questions that may be bothering you. Make sure you have you doubts clarified

8) Get ready to roll.

Good luck to R2 applicants

    1) Laptop can either be bought at ISB or u can get your own. No spl reason to choose one over the other, however if u buy from outside u get more variety and your configurations.

2)Yes, your wife can stay in the shared acco also. However, i would suggest that in case you are planning to make your family stay with you for extended periods you can go for a Studio. Shared acco is or singles and its hard to accomodate ppl in one room plus there could be comfort issues as well.
